Estudio preliminar sobre el desarrollo de Limnaea viatrix D'orbigny (1835) en condiciones controladas de temperatura y humedad

An study was carried out with the aim to observe the developmen and reproduction potential of the snail Limnaea viatrix. They were manteined in groups of two snails from the hatching up to ten weeks. Along the work was used a constant temperature between 20-22°C and the snails were feed with Oscillatoria obscura algae. Between the first and seventh week post·hatching, the snails were able to increase 5.5 times their original size. The snails began laying eggs between the foruth and the sixth week of age. During the assay each snail produced 532-800 new specimens. The results obteined are related with others experimental studies. At the same time the food quality in the growth of snail, is discussed in relation to the epidemioligy of Fasciola hapática.
