Volume distribution pattern of spray nozzles (JD14-2)
The present research work conducted at Faculdade de Ciências Agrárias e Veterinárias da UNESP, "Campus" de Jaboticabal, São Paulo, Brazil, had as main objective the study of some parameters related to the quality of different spray nozzles such as: distribution pattern and liquid output. For the trial, pulverizing device with adjustable pressure, height and time spraying was built, which works in conjunction with the nozzle patternator made according to the World Health Organization specifications. Forty nozzles were tested under standardized conditions of pressure (40 PSI), spraying time (1 minute) and height (30 cm). The liquid discharge rate of each nozzle was compared with the liquid throughput specified by the manufacturer (or with the nozzle denominations code) and the volumetric distribution were presented graphically. The nozzles JD14-2 exhibited great uniformity of throughput between the replications (40 PSI). However, a significant deviation in the distribution pattern was detected. The difference suggests lack of standardization of the manufacturing process or poor control of the quality by the manufacturers.
