Bioeconomic model for a beef cattle production system I. Description of the model

The most important factor in the improvement of an extensive beef cattle production system in the "Cerrado" has been the introduction of cultivated pastures. With the objective of evaluating the physical and economical impacts from introducing cultivated pastures in the traditional beef production system a computer simulation model was constructed. In this model the main components of the improvement process of a beef farm in the "Cerrado" were introduced. It is feasible to experiment with the model taking into account biological and decision variables as well as to estimate risk from cash crops and beef prices.
