Phytoplankton of the lotic environments of the upper basin Sali River, Tucumán, Argentina

Phytoplankton of Salí (Gelsi tributary and effluent), Vipos and Tapia rivers was represented by 224 taxa and Bacillariophyceae, especially pennate diatoms, had the highest species richness, then ranked Chlorophyta and Cyanophyta. The only red algae was only observed for Tapia and Salí (Gelsi ef fluent) rivers, the latter also found in dinoflagellates. Cited for the first time to the Argentine northwestern 34 taxa of Bacillariophyceae which correspond to: 27 species, 5 varieties and 2 forms. Three new nomenclatural combinations are proposed.
