Leaf morpho-anatomy and foliar achitecture of Cinnamomum porphyrium (Lauraceae)

Ruiz, Ana Inés; María Eugenia, Guantay y Graciela Inés, Ponessa. 2011. “Leaf morpho-anatomy and foliar achitecture of Cinnamomum porphyrium (Lauraceae)”. Lilloa 48 (1). The architecture and leaf morpho-anatomy of a C. porphyrium (Griseb.) Kosterm. population from Horco Molle (Tucumán, República Argentina) is studied. The material was fixed in FAA and conventional histological techniques were used. C. porphyrium presents leaves, elliptic-lanceolate, alternate, leathery, entire margin. The adaxial surface is glabrous, bright green, the abaxial, lighter green, with prominent ribs, with tufts of hair domatia in primary type-axillary. Dorsiventral leaf, hipostomatic. Anfiparacítico and anfibraquiparacítico stomatal complex. Trichomes are non-glandular. Mucilaginous idioblasts. In transcor te, the petiole is circular and subcircular. Presents uniestrata epidermis, subepidermal collenchyma angular-laminar system consists of a single vascular bundle surrounded by sclerenchyma side in the apical portion. Venation is pinnate, camptódroma, eucamptódroma. Described for the first time the presence of domatia, leaf architecture and petiole anatomy.
