Olive waste treatment technology to obtain compost and the viability of its application

Pruning residues from olive groves and from olive oil extraction have increased in the provinces of Catamarca and La Rioja during the last few years, giving rise to the need to manage them using environmentally friendly technologies. The biodegradation of substances contained in the alpeorujo and leaves of the olive together with goat and horse livestock manures led to the obtaining of organic amendments of acceptable quality for use as enhancers of the properties of agricultural land. The results presented in this full article were achieved through experimental tests carried out in an olive oil company in the middle and property of the UNCA and financed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of Argentina.
