Tail bifurcation in several species of squamates of the families Liolaemidae, Tropiduridae, Phyllodactylidae and Teiidae

Caudal autotomy is a strategy widely used by lizards to escape from their predators. During the regeneration process, anomalies may arise that result in a tail with twoor more tips. Through field observations and consultation of material from scientific collections, we present new records of tail bifurcation for eight species belonging tofour lizard families.
