It has been considered appropriate to dedicate this special issue of the Journal of International Studies, whose central theme is Latin America, to Professor Gustavo Lagos, an academic at the Institute of International Studies who for many years contributed with his illustrious knowledge and outstanding professional conditions to initiate and deepen the study and teaching of international relations. It is a debt of gratitude for someone at the time of his retirement, to take advantage of a well-deserved rest, leaving behind the imprint of his dedication to this discipline, with the satisfaction of having trained generations of grateful specialists.
