Zero Waste Aerated Bunker Composting of Oil Palm Waste
Carbon Agro Pte. Ltd. is an international leader in the sustainable management of agricultural waste and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction projects. We specialize in the advanced co-composting of oil palm waste streams produced by Crude Palm Oil Mills. Our Zero Waste Aerated Bunker (ZWAB) Composting Solution recycles the key growth nutrients Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium and Magnesium found in the by products Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) and Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) into a superior nutrient rich Organic Compost. This Organic Compost provides these key nutrients needed to replace inorganic fertilizers normally purchased and our composting process meets the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Waste Management Criteria. The ZWAB is designed to ensure optimal conditions for composting using an ingenious concrete aerated floor, combined with real time monitoring and control of oxygen and temperature levels. The ZWAB completes the composting process in just in 25 to 30 days with no additional inoculants or chemical inputs required. Carbon Agro has ZWAB sites under development and deployment in South East Asia and this year deployed the first oil palm waste Aerated Bunker Composting Site in Latin America at the Extractora La Gloria (ELG) Palm Oil Mill in Cesar North Eastern Colombia. For the first time the ELG ZWAB brings the expertise and technology from all around the world to Latin America. The ELG ZWAB will stop the pollution of nearby waterways and reduce methane emissions from traditional EFB dumping and pome ponds.
