Onderweg naar een wetenschappelijke methode voor ruimtelijke ordening

Central purpose of this study is to develop a scientific method for physical planning by the authorities in the Netherlands which meets the following requirements:- (political) values and changes are made explicit,- physical information and changes are made explicit,- everything is understandable for people involved in decision-making,- the method can be applied within a reasonable amount of time and cost.Because of these requirements it was necessary to formulate theoretical principles of science and planning. One of the principles of science is that of the object-oriented method. Therefore some ideas about the object of physical planning are formulated, for instance the normtive starting-point of the vocal, learning man, which is a necessary condition for democratic planning. With all these starting-points (purpose of the study, theoretical principles of science and planning and characteristics of the object of physical planning), a scientific method for urban and regional planning has been developed. Conclusions are mentioned about the possibilities for practical use of the results of the study.
