Financing urban adaptation tot climate change

Despite the global signals, and European and nationalefforts to unlock climate finance, meeting the costsof adaptation measures for climate change is amajor challenge for relevant authorities and privatestakeholders. However, municipalities across Europe— cities, towns and smaller districts — have foundvarious innovative ways to overcome the challenge offinancing their adaptation measures. The 11 city casestudies presented in this publication, and the lessonsthey provide, can inspire other cities and smallermunicipalities to reproduce these measures.
