In-service training of primary school teachers in the four Eastern States of Nigeria

Case studies on political developments in Nigeria since 1954 are described, as well as the country's educational development which has been focused on upgrading primary and secondary teachers. Educational policies are described for the states of Anambra, Cross River, Imo and Ivers. In-service courses for teachers and principals, distance learning programmes, and the Advanced Certificate in Education 'Sandwich' Programme are discussed, and a summary of problems and difficulties to be faced in INSET programmes given.
