Desertification convention has been signed
The issue of how to finance the Accord dominated the final negotiations for the Convention this past June. Swedish Ambassador Bo Kjellen, Chairman of Committee that negotiated the agreement over 13 months, said in his opening speech on 14 October that he was "fully aware of the disappointment of some developing countries with the financial arrangements", but also that he was "fully convinced that we will raise the financial and technical resources needed.
