Employment and labour markets

This document focuses on the unpaid care work as a significant component of time and resource allocation in economic activity, this module introduces a gender analysis of employment and labor markets in an African context, including labor supply issues and the segmented structure of employment, to create a fuller picture of time and resource allocation. Definitions of informal employment are stressed, given its importance in most African countries. The module includes an employment mapping exercise and discusses employment policies from a gender perspective.
