Introduction and evaluation of silky oak (Grevillea robusta) provenances in New Caledonia

The results of the seed sources/progenies trial of #Grevillea robusta# allow us to state that the seed source selection is highly interesting for this species. In New Caledonia, the seed sources coming from elevations around 200 m were significantly better than the ones from higher (900 m) or lower (20-60 m) elevation. More selection must be done on the shape and branching characteristics in order to identify the best seed sources. This species seems to adapt quite well in the dry and windy climate and the shallow and poor soils of the West coast of New Caledonia.
