From agronomic data to farmer recommendations: an economics training manual

This manual is intended for use by agronomists as they make farm recommendations from agronomic data. It is not necessarily difficult to make recommendations which fit farmers' goals and situations, but is certainly easy to make poor recommendations by ignoring factors which are important to the farmer; some of these factors may not be very evident. The philosophy of this manual is that it is better to estimate an effect of a factor than to ignore it completely, even though it is sometimes difficult to estimate the effect of some factors on farmer choices. This manual provides lists of these factors and procedures for dealing with them from the farmer's point of view.
