Distance learning succeeds
Two years; ago, Wye College (University of London) broke new ground by offering a Distance Learning Masters Programme in Agricultural Development (see Course Announcements', Spore 27). Two hundred and fifty students from 70 countries have so far registered with the course. Four students (from UK, West Indies, Zambia and Zimbabwe) have already graduated, and over one hundred students have achieved credits in the examinations. For many, this ha involved journeys of hundred of miles from field postings to the city to sit examinations; the students have demonstrated the they are willing to accept suck inconveniences in order to improve their qualifications.
