The seafloor measurement history and the seabed topography revealed by the recent hydrographic surveys.

The seafloor depth has been measured by lead sounding, single-beam echo sounder, and multi-beam echo sounder to produce the charts of the Japan Coast Guard (JCG). Over the last decade, the multi-beam echo sounder was adapted for the surveying conducted by the JCG, and a detailed topography has been revealed. In this paper, we introduce the seafloor measurement history and some recent works based on the multi-beam echo sounder system.
