Об одном из методов оценки урожайности поколений промысловых рыб.

The possibility to estimate the year-class strength of commercial fishes by the age composition of catches is examined. The age composition is shown to be insufficient to give simple definition of relative sizes of recruitment for the populations described by the Beverton-Holt's model. The method of year-class strength indices as one of the methods estimating the year-class strength is analysed. On models it is shown how the method reflects the recruitment dynamics in some typical situations. In a number of cases it is found that the indices significantly distort the true picture. A conclusion has been made that the possibilities of the method are limited, and the conditions of its application are formulated.
