New data on the distribution of crabs (Decapoda: Anomura and Brachyura) in Cuba.
The taxonomy of Cuban anomuran and braquiuran crabs is very well known. However, as many other invertebrates, the distribution of the species remains uncertain, hiding biogeographical and conserva- tional studies. In this work, we present new data on the distribution of Cuban crabs, occurring in western (Pinar del Río and Matanzas) and eastern provinces, including some protected areas. The distribu- tion of 69 species (13 anomurans and 56 braquiurans) is actualized. The provinces with more records are Guantánamo (42 species) and Holguín (38). All the species from the province of Guantánamo occur in protected areas.
