Brooders collection of shanak yellowfin seabream (Acanthopagrus latus) and sobaity silver seabream (Sparudebtex gasta) floating cages

In this study 254 fish samples of Acanthopagrus latus and 159 fish samples of sparidentex hasta captured in a Bandar-Imam and mahshahr area creeks, by hooks long line, floating gillnets and set nets were studies. shanak samples were caught on NoV. - Dec 1996 in areas with sandy bottoms, and sobaity samples were caught on Aug. 96- May 97 in areas with rocky bottoms. The highest rate of shanak live catch was observed in set-nets (Oct.- Nov. 1996). Survival rates were similar in samples caught by setnets, Hoating gillnets and hooks. The highest rate of sobaity live catch was also observed in setnets (Aug. Oct.) and the lowest live catch wras observed in Hoating gillnets (Oct.,Nov. and mar). surface temperature of the cages were 15-250 c. the fall in GSI shanaks during may and observation of spent individuals in the same month shows that this species spawns in Mar.-Apr. the results show that sobaity spawns in the period of Mar.- first harf of April in a relatively short time. Length (age) at first maturity in male shanaks was observed in 14-22 cm (1-2 years) group, and in females, in 20-29 cm (2-3.5 years) group. For male sobaity, age at first maturity was in 15-30 cm (1-1 years), and in females, it was in 31-50 cm (1-2 years) group. Maximum and minimum obsolete fecundity in shanak was 548625and 167124 respectively. Relative fecundity svas between 555.44 and 905.32. For sobaity, Maximum and minimum absolute fecundity were 6520350 and 633122 respectively. Relative fecundity for this species was between 162.34 and 708.74.
