Estudo ecológico de fragmentos ambientais urbanos : percepção sígnica e pesquisa participante.

This research had as subject the urban environment perception and was developed according to the Semiotics theory of Charles Sanders Peirce. The objectives of this study which carried through between the semiotics and the ecology were: the characterization of the environment perception by a citizens determined group on environmental fragments of the urban ecosystem of Medianeira, a small city located in the extreme west of Paraná state, Brazil; and the development of a Participant Research with a small group of a recyclable objects collectors, who are workers of the surrounding garbage dump. We tried to characterize the perception of the investigated citizens about the composition and geographic disposal of the city, related to water, rivers, subjects related to garbage and the surrounding garbage dump. We investigated and analyzed the perception of the local citizens in the urban context of Medianeira, under two approaches: the perceivable fragments and the imperceptible ones. We characterized the environment perception of 88 local, professional citizens of 11 of distinct activities. As techniques and instruments of inquiry, we used the free comment, the half structuralized interview, the recording in films and photographs, and one technique we developed, which is called Perception Game. The dialogues of the interviews and the game were recorded and were completely typed, being submitted to content analysis. Among the investigated perceptions we registered the topophilia feelings and topophobia about the city, the considered important areas and the perception of determined negative and latent environment impacts in fragments of the searched environment, such as the bottom of valleys, edges, and stream beds of rivers. The investigated population notices and believes that the downtown places or the places located in the best areas of the city are better cared by the municipal workers, leaving the maintenance and care of surrounding areas, bottom of valleys, rivers and or surrounding neighborhoods. The citizens also perceive the existence of people?s instituted local areas that contribute for the environment impacts, such as the treatment and the inadequate disposal of garbage and the domestic, commercial and industrial in natura sewers, mainly in the rivers of the city.
