Breeding dry beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) for common bacterial blight and anthracnose resistance.

Sixty two CB coded lines with field resistance to common bacterial blight (CB) and to the race alfa-Brasil of Colletotrichum llndemuthianum were selected by the pedigree breeding method from crosses between 'PI 207262' * 'Aroana'. Inoculations were made with the isolate Xp CNF 15 adjusted to a concentration of 5 x 107 cfu/ml on primary leaves using the clipping method.
