Ladino-indian relations in the highlands of Chiapas, México
Ethnic relations between a dominant ladino group and a subordinate Indian group are studied by means of questionnairesand interviews. The study reveals a permeable barrier based on cultural rather than racial criteria. Specific findings deal with social distance, stereotypes, actual contact, perception of change, and acculturation.
