Determination of the force required to detach coffee berries in different stages of maturation
Experiments were carried out to determine the force required to detach berries in 5 coffee cultivars grown in Brazil. Significant differences were found between cultivars. Berries of cv. Conillon required minimum force, whereas cv. Mundo Novo required the most force for removal of green berries and cultivars Catimor and Catuai Vermelho for the removal of red-green berries. Cultivars Mundo Novo and Catimor required the most force for removal of red berries.
