Coffee leaf rust progress in different altitudes :

The progress of coffee leaf rust (Hemileia vastatrix) was studied from 1998 to 2000 in different altitudes from 660 to 1500 m, on coffee plantations (Catuai Vermelho 44), spaced 2.8 x 0.7 m in the Zona of Mata of Minas Gerais State. Coffee leaf rusthad lower incidence in higher altitudes (above 1000 m). The maximum incidence of the disease from 1998 to 2000 was observed from July to October, depending on the altitude. As the altitude increased, the peak of the disease tended to occur later in the season, between September and October. The highest incidence of the disease was observed at an altitude of 850 m and the lowest at 1500 m.
