Desempenho de adubadora centrífuga de tracao animal para a cultura cafeeira

Manual broadcasting of fertilizer is usually done in Brazilian coffee crops. Nevertheless mechanical rotary and pendular broadcasters are becoming increasingly popular. This paper reports laboratory evaluation of an animal drawn centrifugal broadcaster designed by A. Rigitano and J.F.M. Fava at the Instituto Agronomico of Campinas, State of Sao Paulo, Brasil. The results showed a fair longitudinal distribution pattern of fertilizer and a theoretical field performance which was several times superior than that attained by hand application. The maximum fertilizing rate reached by the machine (about 120 kg/ha) is not sufficient for an one-pass complete application in fully grown plantations. However, this aspect is not a limiting one since it is a recommended practice to spread fertilizer in two or three times
