The selection of Arabica coffee for Fusarium bark disease resistance at Bvumbwe

When the programme to control Fusarium Bark Disease (FBD) Fusarium stilboides of coffee was drawn up in 1959 it was decided that the main approach to control would be by chemicals and cultural practices. By 1962 it became evident that the cheapest way of controlling the disease of the nature of the FBD was by the use of a resistant variety. The most recent disease to cause concern to East and Central African coffee growers in FBD (1963, 1964 and 1965) and it is the purpose of this report to summarise the selection work and to give recomendations for future work
