Using Hibrido de Timor in breeding of Coffea arabica L. :
Using the Hybrido de Timor as gene source is possible due to its high physiologic resistance to all Hemileia vastatrix races and to its tetraploid-arabicoid character. Interspecific hybrid of this cultivar can be expected to improve the leaf rust resistance of arabica coffee but improving the liquor quality of robusta with Hybrido de Timor cannot be recommended because the bean size as well as the yielding ability is variable and the grains are usely aborted. Since the liquor quality is considerably lower than that of the arabica coffee, Hybrido de Timor cannot be used as a substitute
