Considerations sur les incompatibilités de greffe pour la culture du caféier

Graft incompatibility has been demonstrated between coffee species, and especially in the Coffea arabica. C. canephora association. Whatever the arrangement, incompatibility is shown by poor joining of the wood and phloem of the partners. This type of graft does not necessarily lead to poor vigour. Graft incompatibility of this type causes major drawbacks (break of the graft, deficient growth) which can be avoided by better knowledge of the behaviour of the species grafted. From the practical standpoint, this information could, in particular, be used for introducing wild coffees into the collection, and for controlling soil nematodes which are harmful to C. arabica crops
