Studies on the placement of fertilizers phosphorus in tropical crops

Field experiments were carried out under field conditions with coffee and passion fruit plants in order to find ways of increasing the efficiency of phosphorus fertilization, using labelled simple superphosphate. With both crops it was found that, within soil applications, the placement of the fertilizer in circular strips around the trees provided for a better uptake than other types of distribution such as circular furrows and holes. Spraying the fertilizer directly to the leaves, however, was nearly 3 times more efficient
