Etude sur la presence eventuelle d'aflatoxine de sterigmatocystine et d'ochratoxine dans le café vert

The object of this study was to develop completely reliable methods of analysis to determine the mycotoxines in a statistically valid number of samples of green coffee. Methods of analysis for aflatoxine and sterigmatocystine used on the one hand by the Chemical Laboratory of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture of Trieste, and on the other hand, by the Chemical Laboratory of the Province of Trieste, are presented. No trace of mycotoxine was found in the five hundred and two samples of green coffee landed at the port of Trieste. A single sample of a coffee which was no longer marketable was found to have a large quantity of sterigmatocystine (12 mg/kg)> A stock of healthy green coffee can easily be contaminated by the presence of sterigmatocystine
