Coffee weeds in Andhra

Weeds that are associated with coffee in Araku, Chintapalli and Paderu of Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh have been listed. Weed growth was found to be more intense and diverse in Podu areas where coffee is cultivated than in coffee of shady patches. Totally about 74 dicot species of 21 different families and 8 monocot species of 4 families and a fern species were found associated with coffee. Three of the species of Cucurbitaceae and a species of Liliaceae were creepers and found to be an obstacle for coffee growth. Different control measures in practice are discussed
