Studies on die-back in coffee (Coffea arabica L.); 3: Critical evaluation on the factors causing new malady
The environmental factors that play a dominant role in the defoliation due to premature yellowing and senescence (which exhibit no visual symptoms of pathogen association) were studied; along with the extent of die-back of branches which exihibit this disorder. Incidence starts from the month of October and reaches its maximum by the month of March-April when high atmospheric temperature and low soil moisture conditions prevail. Another factor associated with this phenomena, is the high atmospheric temperatures during the day coupled with saturated atmospheric conditions in the night. However, it is the combination of all these factos which play a dominant role in inducing this phenomena
