Aspectos da distribuicao da producao e áreas das propiedades cacaueiras do Estado da Bahia no ano agrícola 1981/82

Based on a list of cocoa farms from of Bahia State, carried out in 1982 by the Departamento de Extensao (DEPEX) of the Comissao Executiva do Plano da Lavoura Cacaueira (CEPLAC), basic date are presented concerning to cocoa production, area and productivity, for each one the seven sub-regions, in which Cocoa Region was divided for each local extension office of DEPEX and each country. In 81.39 percent of the farms the average productions is less then 22,500 kilos. In 78.89 percent of the farms, the area in productions is not over 30 hectares. The productivity increases with the farms production until 30,000 kilos and light variations are observed in the farms larger than those. The productivity varied from 438.90 to 753.60 kilos/ha. The area in production used by the "buraras" and small farms represent 38.57 percent for the total area in production; they are responsible for 34.67 percent of the total cocoa production. The sub-region 6 was identified as the one with the highest production and was the leader in restoring old cocoa plantations in the 1978-1981 period. The sub-region 7 has the largest cocoa plantation carried out in the above mentioned period and the 4 one showed the lowest production. Finally the local extension offices of DEPEX and countries wich the highest and lowest level of cocoa production, are in production, with new plantations and restored old cocoa plantation were identified in the period of 1978 to 1981. It was also identified the productivity, number of farms and new expantions of the agricultural line.
