Cancros dormentes: fonte de inóculo de Corticium salmonicolor em cacaueiro

Pink disease is seasonal in the cacao growing area of Bahia. As the disease diminishes, infected cacao branches develop cankers which become sources of inoculum for the following year. These branches appear healthy during the period when the disease is almost absent in the field. However, they start to show symptoms when conditions become favourable to the disease. Isolates obtained from these cankers were shown to be highly pathogenic to cacao seedlings.
