Caracterizacao de recursos genéticos do cacaueiro, 3: Flor das selecoes CEPEC, EEG, SIAL, BE, MA, RB, CA e CAS

Flower descriptors were used to characterize 31 clones of the CEPEC, EGG, SIAL, BE, MA, RB, CA and CAS séries. Significant differences, at the level of 1 percent probability, were observed for all the descriptors used. This is evidence of the variability present among the genetic resources. The clones CEPEC 2, SIAL 543 and BE 5 have large flowers while small flowers are characteristic of the clones RB. The clones CEPEC 17 and RB 31 have the longest ovaries. The MA clonal series presented the highest number of ovules per ovary and the highest number of seeds per pod. This is a promising clonal series for genetic breeding. A positive and significant coefficent of correlation was observed between: number of ovules per ovary and number of seeds; sepal length and ligule length; sepal length and staminoid length; sepal width and ligula width; and sepal width and ovary diameter.
