Estudo comparativo de diversas culturas de Colletotrichum isoladas de cacaueiros (Theobroma cacao L.) no estado de Sao Paulo

Morphological, physiological and pathogenic characteristics of Colletotrichum populations in cacao from 17 locations of Sao Paulo state were studied. 202 isolates of the fungus were obtained from stems, leaves and fruits with "anthracnosis" symptoms. The isolates were separated in 4 groups according to cultural variations, appearance and colour of the mycelium. Representative isolates from each group were examined to observe setae, perithecia of the ascogenous stage (Glomerella sp.) and conidia. Fusiform, elongated and cylindric conidia forms were considered. The results of inoculations were positive in different degrees of pathogenicity. Assays at 5 temperatures showed growth variations among the isolates and an optimun temperature of 27 grade centigrade for all the isolates studied.
