Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis), oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) or cacao (Theobroma cacao) were established as the chief components of sequential agrosylvicultural systems in Oxisols of Una, Bahia, a humid tropical region in the Brazilian coast. These systems promoted a more efficient use of production factors and substantially reduced the period of economical immaturity of the principal crops as compared to the respective monocultural stands.
