Níveis residuais de BHC (HCH) em amendoas de cacau na Bahia, Brasil

The level of BHC (HCH) residues was determined monthly, during 1983, in cacao beans collected from exporter's warehouses. BHC residues were detected in all samples analyzed, the monthly average levels varying from 0.05 to 0.2 ppm. These results showed that the residual levels are below the tolerance limit of the majority of importing countries (0.5 to 1 ppm) and whithin the limit established by Brazil for gamma BHC (1 ppm). In addition, the results suggest that a significant decrease of the residue levels occurs only 60 days after the insecticide application.
