Resistance studies: black pod, witches' broom, Ceratocystis wilt; histological investigations

The existing screening programme for resistance to witches' broom disease will be continued. In connection with the recent observations of breaking down of resistance in Scavina material, attempts will be made to establish whether new strains of Marasmius perniciosus have envolved. Anatomical studies paralleling those on Phytophthora resistant pod walls will be made on Marasmius-resistant pods.
