An experiment on the control of black pod disease (Phytophthora palmivora) on cacao with fungicides

A number of fungicides for the control of black pod disease (Phytopthora palmivora) on cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) had been tested on the Klatakan Estate, Jember. The fungicides used were copperoxychloride (Cobox 50 WP), metiram (Polyram Combi), mancozeb (Dithane-M 45), copperoxychloride (Vitigran Blue) and Cooperoxychloride (Cacaobre Sandoz) with a spraying intervals of 2 weeks. The results of the experiment indicated that the percentage of dry pods was not affected by the fungicide spraying. It also appeared that spraying with Vitigran Blue at 0,3 per cent of formulation, reduced the percentage of infected pods significantly as compared with control (untreated).
