Efeito de um antitranspirante (Mobileaf) sobre a transpiracao de mudas do cacaueiro (Theobroma cacao L.)

A greenhouse study was conducted in the area of Centro de Pesquisas do Cacau, Itabuna, Bahia, from June to July, 1976, in order to estimate the efficiency of an antitranspirant (MODILEAF) on the control of transpiration of young cacao plants (Theobroma cacao L.). Five concentrations were applied on leaves of approximately 6 months old cacao plants. This age was chosen because it has been recommended as a suitable one for transplanting seedlings. It was found that concentration of 10 per cent and 20 per cent reduced the rate of transpiration in 32.0 per cent and 45.9 per cent, respectively, although symptoms of toxicity were observed on leaves of the seedlings treated with the higher concentration
