Caracterizacao preliminar dos agrossistemas das regioes cacaueiras da Bahia e Espíritu Santo

The cocoa region of southeast Bahia has been considered practically and individual geographic space, when in reality it presents ecological, physiographic and socio-economic nuances. This study proposes to delimit and characterize subregion as agrosystems, defined as a complex of components of a region, with organic structure or not, modified by agriculture and other human activities. As result, twelve agrosystems, with special characteristics of soil, climate and dynamic of land use, were recognised for southeast Bahia, one for central east Bahia (Reconcavo baiano) and one for Espirito Santo. This regionalization permits to guide the application of technologies, to indicate new researches suitable to ecological and economic characteristics of each agrosystem and to economic diversification and regional planning of the cocoa zones of Bahia and Espirito Santo
