The need for managerial skill on cocoa farms with particular reference to West Africa

The advantages of expert management are not available to smallholders who farm cocoa on a small scale. In some cases, these farms need rehabilitation, replanting or the application of inputs. Can the employment of a farm manager by a group of smallholders farming close to one another lead to improvements in maintenance, yield quality of product and returns?
