Surveillance for bovine tuberculosis: the efficiency of an abattoir traceback system

Abattoir traceback was found to be twenty times more efficient than all other methods of epidemiological selection of herds to be TB tested, in detecting TB-infected herds over a six year period in NSW. Epidemiological selection of herds, in turn, was twenty five times more efficient than testing herds where there was no reason to suspect infection
