Domestic ducks as carriers of influenza A viruses
Influenza A viruses have been isolated throughout the world from at least 25 avian species. Among the earliest reports of influenza A virus isolation were from domestic ducks in 1956. The first reported isolation of influenza A virus in Malaysia, subtype H3N6 and H4N6, was also from domestic ducks. With the expansion of both the poultry and duck industry in Malaysia, the role of domestic ducks as possible carriers of influenza A virus is therefore of our interest
