Chemical control of banana pests and diseases in Taiwan
The Banana Disease and Pest Forecast Center was organized by the Taiwan Banana Research Institute to monitor and forecast pests and diseases and program timely control measures and proper pesticide application. The effective control of banana pests and diseases in Taiwan relies on chemical control programs. Two diseases (leaf spot and freckle disease) and one insect pest (banana borer) are currently under surveillance. Diseases are successfully controlled by aerial spraying of fungicide from August to December and borer damages are minimized by a single application of soil insecticide at planting
