The citrus red mite Panonychus citri (McGregor)(Acari: Tetranychidae)was found infesting Carica papaya L. in Buenos Aires, Provincia de Puntarenas, in the cultivars Solo and Sunrise, imported from Hawaii. A description of the biology, taxonomy and behavoir of the pest is presented, as well as the symptoms in the host and some methods of control.
