MIP en manos de las familias campesinas: retos para el CATIE y sus socios en la región centroamericana
IPM in the Hands of Peasant Families: challenges to CATIE and its partners in the Central American region CATIE has benn implementing during 10 years an Integrated Pest Control Management program in Nicaragua, funded by NORAD. This program has collaborated with local and national institutions to strengthen national capacity to implement ecologically friendly and participatory IPM practices. The program has been developing working methods to reorient training and research to farm family capacity to harness ecological processes in their farming practices. The pilot work suggests a pivotal role for CATIE in Central America in the articulation of international alliances for improved strategic research with field based learning networks for the management of ecological variability.
